Anansi Recognised as One of the UK’s Leading Insurtech Scaleups
Anansi has been selected as part of Tech Nation’s Fintech 5.0 cohort for 2022/23. The news follows a recent surge of recognition for team Anansi, including being selected as 1 of 12 finalists from over 150 applicants to pitch for a place in the Lloyds Lab Accelerator Programme cohort 9, and closing a successful £1.5m pre-seed funding round in late 2021.
The leading network for tech entrepreneurs
Tech Nation is the UK’s leading network for ambitious tech entrepreneurs. The Fintech programme aims at accelerating the growth of successful UK finance and insurance focused scaleups. Now in its sixth year, the programme has an incredible network of over 100 alumni and is delivered as part of HM Treasury’s Fintech Sector Strategy.
One of 51 companies chosen
Anansi has been selected as one of only 51 companies to join the 5.0 cohort following an influx of accolades. These include Co-founder and CEO, Megan Bingham-Walker, named as an Inspiring Women in Fintech, and a number of accolades by Sifted including recognition as one of Europe’s Hottest Seed Investments.
Anna Korzeniowska, Head of Experience at Tech Nation, said: “The calibre of all of the startups and scaleups accepted into this year’s Fintech 5.0 programme has been outstanding. Anansi’s ambition, innovation and success so far is a testament to the UK’s position as a global powerhouse for fintech and insurtech. I can’t wait to see what Anansi goes on to achieve!”
The new cohort features several scale-ups within the sector that have demonstrated their credibility as future fin and Insurtech leaders. As part of the rigorous judging process, companies must be at a stage of development equivalent to seed or Series A, have a product in the market used actively and be headquartered in the UK.
Thrilled to be accepted
Megan Bingham-Walker, CEO and Co-founder at Anansi, said: “We are thrilled to be part of the Fintech 5.0 cohort and will be taking full advantage of the platform that the Tech Nation programme offers us to broadcast the benefits of embedded insurance to the e-commerce ecosystem in the UK and beyond. We are also keen to benefit from expanding our network to thought leaders within the Fintech industry and share learnings with peers”.
The programme is funded by the UK Government’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sports. Anansi will be offered a concierge-style service for all its scaling challenges including introductions to investors and mentors.
